4-H Shotgun team competes in Savannah

The Coffee County 4-H Shotgun team traveled to Savannah for the weekend of May 28-30 to compete in the Georgia 4-H Trap, Skeet, and Sport Clays Match. The match was held at the Forest City Gun Club. Coffee 4-H had two senior 4-H teams (grade 9-12) to compete in the match. Teams can be composed of three to four members. Team members included Alex Dunn, Gavin Grantham, Cara Lott, Hudson Lott, Drew Purvis, Michael Roberts, and Weston Vickers. Senior 4-H shooters shoot 100 rounds in Trap, 100 rounds in Skeet, and 100 rounds in Sporting Clays.

Drs. Leis, Keefer address SGSC Douglas campus graduates

South Georgia State College celebrated its graduates during commencement ceremonies on the Douglas Campus on May 13, 2021. Family members and friends gathered in the Wellness Center gymnasium to cheer on a portion of the 446 SGSC graduates from summer and fall 2020 and spring 2021. Among the total number of graduates were 93 receiving bachelor degrees from one of SGSC’s eight baccalaureate programs, including the first cohort of teacher education graduates, and 20 dual enrollment students receiving associate degrees a few days shy of their respective high school graduations.
