House Burns in Brown County

A house is a total loss following a fire late Saturday afternoon a few miles south of Brownwood. The house is in the 8000 block of County Road 201. No one was home at the time of the fire, there were no injuries or loss of life. It is unknown if there were any pets in the house.

Two COVID deaths, 253 positive results this week

In the last seven days, the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department received 253 positive COVID-19 test results. Of the 253 positives this week, 99 were PCR, and 154 were antigen. There are 21 people currently hospitalized in Brown County for COVID-19. Two new deaths have been reported: One female in her 70s and one male in his 80s, neither were from nursing facilities.

National Night Out for Brown County, presented by Dustin Larremore Farmers Insurance Agency, is scheduled for October 5. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Chip seal project in Precinct 3 Sept. 20-24

Brown County, Precinct 3 will begin a chip seal project at the intersection of CR 331 and CR 619 and continue west to CR 351 beginning Monday, September 20 through September 24th, 2021. The work will begin at approximately 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day. We expect to complete one mile each day. Residents should plan an alternate route during the stated days and times.
