Summit Class of 2022 to Graduate Saturday

Thirteen seniors will graduate from Summit High School on Saturday, May 21. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. in the Summit School gymnasium. The class has chosen red, black and silver as their class colors and a silver-tipped red rose as their class flower. Their motto is, “As you grow older, you’ll find that the only things you regret are the things you didn’t do,” attributed to Zachary Scott.

Minnesota man sentenced to federal prison for child abuse

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A Browns Valley man was sentenced to 16 years in federal prison for Abusive Sexual Contact with two children under the age of 12-years-old. According to a news release from the Department of Justice, Ernest Duane Barse Jr., 43, had sexual contact with two children who were known to him.

Milbank Fire Department Responds to Burning Tractor

The Milbank Fire and Rescue Department was dispatched to a tractor fire at the corner of 148th Street and 471st Avenue on Wednesday, May 11, at approximately 3 p.m. According to Fire Chief David Giesen, “Upon arrival, firefighters found the Case tractor fully engulfed. Firemen used water and foam to extinguish the flames and remained on the scene for about 45 minutes.”

Suspect in Custody After High-Speed Chase

At approximately 3 p.m. on May 15, the Big Stone County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a black Cadillac passenger vehicle coming from Milbank at a high rate of speed. A Big Stone County deputy located the suspect vehicle, which was speeding and driving erratically, in the City of Ortonville.
