Sanford Hospital Highway 32 South Location now on Controlled Access

Sanford Hospital and clinic, just off Highway 32 South in Thief River Falls, are now operating with a controlled access policy due to unrest in the community. What this means is that the doors at the Highway 32 campus are locked but staffed by Sanford personnel. When you come to either the hospital or clinic for an appointment, you will find a locked door however there will be someone to let you into the facility.

Two arrested following overdose death near Fertile, Minn.

Two people have been arrested in connection to the death of an Erskine woman who died of an apparent fentanyl overdose Monday, July 26. Katie Elizabeth Flick, 32, was pronounced dead on the scene after Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies responded around 8:50 p.m. Monday on Highway 102, about 7 miles outside of Fertile, Minn. Flick's body was transported to UND Pathology for an autopsy.

Last Wednesday, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Michels Construction site, on property owned by Enbridge Energy, south of Thief River Falls on Highway 32. When officers arrived, they found one individual had climbed up an excavator arm and was attempting to lock himself to the excavator with a bicycle lock.

Another person, 29-year old George Piatkoff, also of Erskine, was transported to the Crookston Hospital.
