Elbert Doyle Cox, 66, of Valdosta died Sunday, May 30, 2021 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Madison, Florida on August 29, 1954 to the late BK and Dorothy Buchanan Cox and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Elbert was a truck driver for United Rentals and was a Baptist who also served as pastor for several Baptist churches. He served as pastor of Pineview Baptist Church in Hahira, Pauline Baptist Church and Morrison Baptist Church in Brooks County, Center Hill Baptist Church in Center Hill, Florida, Sparks Baptist Church in Sparks, GA and New Hope Baptist Church in Nashville, GA.

Lucille P. Thomas, 91, of Lake Park, died on May 10, 2021, at Fellowship Home in Brooks County. Born in Mountverde, Florida, on March 12, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Ida Smith Prine. Mrs. Thomas had worked in the lunchroom at Lake Park Elementary School. She was a life time member of Lake Park United Methodist Church where she was very active with Helping Hands and Pathfinders. She loved to cook, and her family and friends said she was the best cook around. Lucille enjoyed the outdoors, walking around her lake and tending to her flowers. In her retirement years she loved to travel.
