Mother to Newborn Left Around Wooded Area in Glen Burnie Pleads Guilty to Felony Child Abuse

A Glen Burnie woman has entered a guilty plea after being arrested last year for reportedly leaving her newborn child in a wooded shortly after giving birth. Court records say that on May 19, 2022, Olivia Thompson, 20, pled guilty to first degree child abuse, a felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled in the case for June 29, 2022.

Local Man Charged in Connection with Fatal Alcohol Related Accident in Davidsonville

A local man has been arrested and charged following a fatal alcohol related accident that occured in Davidsonville. In a press release, the Anne Arundel County Police Department said officers responded to Davidsonville Road at Kings Retreat Road for a crash involving a pedestrian shortly after 11pm on May 17, 2022. A 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling southbound on Davidsonville Road approaching Palomino Court, and construction crews were on scene limiting traffic to one lane of travel, according to the press release.

Shane Tyler Rider, a 31 year old man from Baltimore, has been identified as the motorcyclist killed during a multi-vehicle crash in Arnold. Anne Arundel County Police Department investigators said Rider was operating a Kawasaki motorcycle, while traveling southbound on Ritchie Highway towards Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard. At that same time, a Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Ritchie Highway and began to make a left turn onto Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, police department officials said in a press release. "The motorcycle and Camry collided, and the motorcycle driver was fully ejected from the motorcycle," the release said.

Attempted Robbery of Brooklyn Park 7-Eleven Store Leads to Arrest of Annapolis Man

The Anne Arundel County Police Department has taken an Annapolis man into custody following the attempted robbery of a Brooklyn Park 7-Eleven Store. On May 19, 2022, at approximately 12:40 a.m., officers responded for a report of an attempted robbery at the 7-Eleven, 4000 Ritchie Highway, police said in a department press release. "Two white male suspects had entered the business, and one of them brandished a knife toward the clerk and demanded money while the second suspect started to walk behind the counter," the release stated. "The clerk produced a baseball bat to defend himself, and both suspects fled on foot. Multiple officers and K-9 responded to search the area. "

On May 18, 2022, at approximately 9:30 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop of a white 2017 Volkswagen on Kenilworth Court near Century Towne Road, according to department officials. In a press release, authorities said upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
