One dead, another in critical condition after police chase for stolen car ends in crash

One person is dead and another is in critical condition after Gainesville police say a pair of young men attempted to flee in a stolen vehicle and crashed. The incident began around midnight Tuesday when a Gainesville police officer was on foot patrolling the Sweetwater Square apartment complex, located at 3501 NE 15th St. when the cop spotted a stolen 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – State Attorney Brian Kramer has announced that the Alachua County Spring Term Grand Jury has issued indictments against 11 defendants on charges of first degree murder, racketeering, robbery with a firearm, burglary with assault or battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm by a delinquent, and more. The indictment alleges that the defendants engaged in a “pattern of racketeering activity.”

Two Women Arrested on Drug Charges Wednesday Night

Two women were arrested and booked into jail on drug charges Wednesday night in Cherokee County. Those include 25 year old Serina Gagnon, of Sugar Hill, who was charged with Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia and with Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree; she was booked in at the Cherokee County Detention Center at 6:35pm.

Stolen car accident leads to driver’s death

One person is dead and a minor is in critical condition after a car accident early Tuesday morning. First responders found a stolen 2015 Chrysler 200 with two stolen firearms flipped sideways on 1400 NW 23rd Ave., near the Wawa on the corner of Northwest 13th Street and Northwest 23rd Avenue, according to a Gainesville Police Department press release.

Stolen vehicle flips, killing one occupant and sending another to the hospital in critical condition

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at approximately 12:30 a.m., while on an increased foot patrol at an apartment complex, a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officer saw a vehicle he knew had been reported stolen on Monday, June 27. The stolen vehicle (2015 Chrysler 200) exited the apartment complex, and the GPD officer got back into his vehicle to initiate a traffic stop. Charlotte shooting suspect found in Gainesville

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (WWSB) - A Port Charlotte man wanted in a June 11 shooting has been arrested in Gainesville, authorities said Thursday. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office says Nicholas Jerome Bell surrendered to Gainesville police after hiding with family in the area. “Nicholas stated he could not take the pressure of being a wanted fugitive and subsequently surrendered without incident,” a news release said.
