Stolen truck recovered and woman arrested

The Texas Department of Public Safety says a Wednesday morning traffic stop resulted in the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a Hardin County woman. According to DPS Sergeant Shana Clark, shortly before 9:00 a trooper stopped a 2002 Ford pickup truck in Kirbyville and soon learned that it had been reported stolen here in Jasper County.

JISD Board nixes proposed admin raise in wake of failing TEA grade

Two go to hospital following Monday morning auto accident

Two residents of Buna in the south end of Jasper County, were injured in a two vehicle auto accident that occurred on Monday morning just west of Jasper. The volunteers of the Jasper Fire Department and other emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 190 and Farm to Market Road 777, shortly before 10:00, when it was reported that the accident involving a passenger car and a work truck, had occurred in front of the offices of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Allen pushes to avoid tax increase...Sheriff pushes and gets raise for his deputies

It’s a long way from being set in stone, but Jasper County Judge Mark Allen unveiled a proposed budget on Monday during a regular meeting of the Jasper County Commissioners Court, outlining the county’s spending for the upcoming year, which he said would avoid a raise in taxes. The measure now goes to at least one budget workshop session, public hearings and final approval. Allen said he believed county leaders should realize that there were a lot of people upset about the recent increase in appraisals at that all efforts should be made to keep taxes as they are.
