Local man drives into porch, arrested for DUI

BUCKHANNON— Joshua Taft Woody, age 35 of Buckhannon, was arrested on Wednesday, June 22, and is currently facing a charge of DUI controlled substance second offense. According to the criminal complaint, Buckhannon Police Department Sergeant Dewaine Linger filed that the defendant allegedly drove a 2008 Ford F250 into the porch of a residence located on Vicksburg Road. When Sergeant Linger arrived at the scene, the defendant allegedly appeared to be under the influence. At that point, Sergeant Linger administered the standard field sobriety test, in which the defendant failed the one-legged stand and the walk-in turn.

Local protests held in response to reversal of Roe v. Wade

BUCKHANNON — While protests are occurring nationwide, several have taken place right here in West Virginia. A protest was held on Monday, June 27 in Harrison County and on Tuesday, June 28 a protest occurred on Main Street in Buckhannon. The protests are in response to the U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade which protected a woman’s right to abortion under the constitution. State governments are now allotted to make decisions on abortion laws as it is no longer federal.

Shinnston drive-in set to reopen after projector issues

SHINNSTON, W.Va (WDTV) - The Sunset Ellis Drive-In Theater in Shinnston is set to reopen Friday night following issues with the projector.
