6/24/22 Tips Needed In Green Lake County Theft

Green Lake County authorities are looking for tips about a suspect and his truck involved in a potential theft in the Town of Princeton. He was wearing a M&P Smith and Wesson T-Shirt, khaki shorts and dark-colored tennis shoes. The truck is believed to be a 2016-to 2019 Black Chevy Silverado Z71 2500 or 3500 Midnight Edition with a black topper. The truck has crossbars on the topper, towing mirrors, and clearance lights. It is believed to be a diesel truck. The incident occurred at 9:07 Thursday morning. Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 920-294-4000. Police arrest 3 adults, 2 minors following chase involving stolen vehicles through Columbia Co.

PORTAGE, Wis. — Three adults and two minors have been arrested after police said they led officers on a pursuit in two stolen vehicles in Columbia County earlier this month. In a news release Thursday, the Portage Police Department said officers saw a vehicle in the city’s downtown on June 9 that had been reported stolen from Madison. When the officers tried to stop the vehicle, it and another vehicle took off, leading police and Columbia County deputies on a chase onto Interstate 39/90/94.

Three Wisconsin Coal Power Plants to Close Years Later than Anticipated

Alliant Energy and the WE Energy Group announced today they are pushing back plans to close three coal power plants for at least two years. Those plants are the Edgewater Generating Station in Sheboygan, and the Columbia Energy Center plant in Portage, both operated by Alliant Energy, and the South Oak Creek plant Oak Creek, operated by WE Energy.

Michael “Mick” Rudolph Sorge

Michael “Mick” Rudolph Sorge, age 82, of Prairie du Sac, passed away Wednesday evening, June 22, 2022, at Maplewood Nursing Home, Sauk City. Mick was born on August 6, 1939, on the home farm in Hickory Flats, near Muscoda, WI. He was the oldest of eight children, born to the late Rudolph “Rudy” and Marie (Kolar) Sorge. Mick was elected President of his Senior Class, and graduated from Blue River High School in 1957. He then furthered his education, graduating from UW-Platteville in 1961 with a degree in Agricultural Education, a minor in Social Sciences, and a K-8 certificate. Mick married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen “Kate” Kinney, on June 10, 1961, at St. Phillips Catholic Church in Soldiers Grove, WI.
