Eddie George picks up first win as Tennessee St. coach

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Geremy Hickbottom threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as Tennessee State gave coach Eddie George his first victory, defeating Kentucky State 41-7. The game was played at Nashville's Nissan Stadium, where George starred as a running back for the NFL's Tennessee Titans. Hickbottom completed 15 of 25 passes for 264 yards, with the three touchdowns and one interception.

Smyrna- Riverdale means more than most in 2021

Most non-region games do not carry the same significance as the league tilts. That’s not necessarily the case when Riverdale travels to Smyrna on September 24. Sumner County’s longest running rivalry wrapped up just before 10 p.m. Friday on Calvin Short Field as the visiting Hendersonville Commandos rode the Wave to a 41-7 victory. Torin Baker led the Commandos on the ground, rushing for 128 yards and three scores, while senior Ellis Ellis added 116 yards on the ground with two scores and another on a short shovel pass from Luke Manning. Editor’s note: This is from a story which appeared in The Lebanon Democrat in 2013. It was taken from an interview with LoHarrel Stevenson in 2012. Mr. Stevenson, 71, who broke racial barriers at Lebanon High School and later Middle Tennessee State University, died Sept. 4 at his home in Evansville, Ind. A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. next Saturday at the Terry Edwards Auditorium inside LHS.

Riverdale's Holcomb throws four TDs in 33-0 win over Rockvale

Riverdale senior quarterback Jameson Holcomb had one of his best nights of the season, throwing for four touchdowns as Riverdale shut out Rockvale 33-0 Friday at home. All of Holcomb's tosses came in the first half as he threw to seven different receivers. It was the Warriors' third shutout of the season as they've allowed just 24 points through five games.

Braden Graham is a 6-foot-1, Pro-style quarterback in the class of 2024 who plays for Super Bowl-winning quarterback Trent Dilfer at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, Tennessee. Graham has yet to start a varsity football game at quarterback in his career but the talent is clearly there, as he has picked up two SEC offers already. Only a sophomore, he has been offered by both Kentucky and the University of Georgia and visited Mississippi this weekend.
