More Local Arrests For Driving With An Invalid License With Prior Convictions

Bryan police responding to a report of reckless driver near downtown Bryan last Friday night led to the driver’s arrest on charges of driving with an invalid license with eight prior convictions and DWI with one prior conviction. Online court records also state 53 year old William Charles Johnson, Jr. of Bryan is awaiting five trials in Brazos County courts. One is for driving with an invalid license in June, another for DWI last December, and three trials for misdemeanor thefts from three years ago. Johnson is out of jail after posting bonds totaling $14,000 dollars.

Bryan Man Sentenced To Prison After Admitting To A Bryan Residential Burglary

A Bryan man has admitted breaking to a Bryan home last October. 37 year old Bruce Briggs was sentenced last week in Brazos County district court to ten years in prison. According to online records, Briggs was allowed to remain free after entering a guilty plea two weeks ago as part of a deal with the district attorney’s office.

Treat of the Day: Brazos County 4-H awards scholarships

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Brazos County 4-H celebrated the 2021-2022 season at the Achievement Banquet. Nine graduating seniors were awarded a total of $16,000 in scholarships from the Brazos County 4-H Adult Leaders Association. Also recognized were the Bronze Star, Silver Star and Gold Star winners. These are the highest awards that a 4-H member can receive in the program.

Brazos County commissioners during their August 2 meeting approved an emergency action plan for employees and a policy for using the county’s panic and duress system. According to minutes of Tuesday’s meeting, county staff removed from the agenda, the entire emergency plan along with attachments addressing bomb threats and bio-chemical threats.

Brazos County commissioners during their August 2 meeting learned that the Brazos County historical committee received a state ward. Committee chairman Henry Mayo said the state historical commission award was for local efforts during 2021. Mayo says Brazos County is one of the highest generating counties for historical markers on an annual basis. Adjoining counties that also received the state’s distinguished service award were Burleson, Washington, and Milam counties.

Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo announces 2022 performance lineup

The Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo announced its 2022 performance lineup on Monday. The event will be Oct. 15-23 at the Brazos County Expo. Fair performances kick off on Oct. 21 with a concert from country music artist Aaron Watson. Country artist Mark Chesnutt will perform on Oct. 22. According to Bryan police arrest reports, 22 year old Mykedrian Ellis had his hands behind his back ready to be handcuffed. Ellis said after he learned his ex-wife was texting other men, he grabbed her throat, struck her, and pushed her to the ground. Ellis was also charged with pushing a six year old child to the ground. Ellis, who was arrested Tuesday of assaulting a family member and injuring a child resulting in reckless bodily injury, remains in jail as of Thursday afternoon in lieu of bonds totaling $83,000 dollars.
