Multi-vehicle accident reported on I-80 WB near Exit 57 in Cass County

(Atlantic, Iowa) – Atlantic Fire & Rescue, Cass EMS and law enforcement responded to a reported multi-vehicle accident on I-80 westbound near Exit 57 (Olive Street), Tuesday (today). At least one vehicle had reportedly rolled over, and one person was complaining of a possible back injury. The crash was reported at around 4:23-p.m. Westbound traffic was reduced to one lane and backed-up for miles. Additional details are currently unavailable. Several individuals arrested for burglary and theft in Cass County

(Cass Co.) The Cass County Sheriff’s Office conducted four search warrants in Atlantic from June 24th to June 26th after the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a residential burglary at a rural address in Cass County on June 22nd. Stolen items were located at all four of the addresses where warrants were served. The Atlantic Police Department assisted with the search warrants.

Lane Spieker hits 30th career homer in CAM win over Audubon

(Anita) Four runs in the bottom of the 7th earned CAM a 12-11 home win in baseball over Audubon on Tuesday. Their seventh straight victory moves them to 22-2 on the season. The 8th rated Cougars recovered after coughing up a three run lead in the top of the 7th. Jack Follmann was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in the game winning run. It was part of a wild final frame which started with Audubon turning an 8-5 deficit into an 11-8 lead in the top of the inning.

Menlo Library Foundation Fundraiser For Library Projects

The Menlo Library Foundation is having a bake sale this weekend to fund new and exciting things for the library. Menlo Library Board Member Jenna Clarke says that the sale will take place on Saturday at the I-80 rest stop in Adair from 7am until they run out. Clarke says this fundraiser will help to support the library financially along with programs and other purchases.

AC/GC Baseball Battles Hard On Senior Night

Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center baseball loses both games in a double header against rival Panorama Monday night. ACGC baseball honored their four seniors that have graduated and would play in their last game in a Charger uniform that includes Miles Kading, Reid Rumelhart, Cayden Jensen and Charlie Crawford. In Game 1 against Panorama, Andrew Mahaffey was the starting pitcher going 6 innings strong allowing five runs but an AJ Draper triple that scored two runs broke the game open in the 6th inning with a final of 7 to 4. In game 2, Panorama won in the bottom of the 9th inning with a final score the Panthers 5, Chargers 4.

Guthrie Center City Council Approves Library Board Appointment

The Guthrie Center City Council met Monday. The Council approved a library board appointment of Becky Carico and then approved a nuisance mowing rate of $75 per hour. The Council resolved the nuisance complaint of Jake Lake for his loud vehicle and did not take action on the sewer locate policy for previously resolving that item.

ACGC Results From Softball/Baseball Trip To Stuart

Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center softball and baseball teams fell in tightly contested games at Stuart Tuesday night.
