Two Fatal Motorcycle Crashes Reported in MN on Tuesday

UNDATED - (KROC-AM News) - There were at least two deadly motorcycle crashes in Minnesota on Tuesday. The most recent incident was reported around 9 PM in western Minnesota. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says one person was killed when a motorcyclist lost control and crashed into the ditch along a rural road just outside the town of Brandon, which is about 10 miles northwest of Alexandria. The victim, whose name has not been released, was a passenger on the motorcycle. A news release says the driver, 44-year-old Shawn Olson of Brandon, was airlifted to a hospital in Fargo with life-threatening injuries.

Two Trailers Destroyed By Fire

Battle Lake Fire Department was called for a fire Tuesday, June 15 about 1:10 p.m. at Blarney Loop on the south side of Otter Tail Lake.When they got to the scene there were two camper trailers on fire. A third camper trailer sustained heavy damage. Ottertail Fire Department was also called for mutual aid. The estimated loss was close to $120,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

BRANDON -- One person died in a motorcycle crash in Douglas County near the town of Brandon. The Sheriff's Office says dispatch got a 911 call just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday from Levi Donson of Brandon who reported the crash on County Road 108 Northwest. He says he was riding his motorcycle with another couple when they crashed their bike.

Motorcycle crash near Brandon kills one, injures another

(Brandon, MN) Tuesday evening around 9:20 Douglas County Dispatch received a call about a motorcycle crash on County Road 108 NW north of Brandon. The caller reported he was riding his motorcycle westbound on County Road 108 with another couple and they crashed their motorcycle in the south ditch. He reported the driver, 44 year old Shawn August Olson, was injured. He added that he was unsure if Olson's passenger was breathing. Douglas County Deputies, the MN State Patrol, Brandon First Responders, North Ambulance, and LifeLink III responded. Olson was airlifted from the scene by LifeLink III to Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND with life-threatening injuries. The passenger, 49 year old Jeanine Cheri Kirscht of Brandon, was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation and the passenger's name is being withheld pending family notification.

Vikingland Band Festival marches back into Alexandria this Sunday

Marching bands from across Minnesota will gather in Alexandria for the Vikingland Band Festival, which returns to the street after being canceled last year due to the pandemic. The parade featuring 15 high school marching bands will travel down Broadway on Sunday, June 27, beginning at 1:30 PM. The parade will travel south on Broadway from 4th Avenue to 15th Avenue. Bands will perform for the judges near 6th Avenue, and will perform their shows three more times at various intervals along the route.
