Penn Yan Man Ticketed for Driving on a Suspended License

A 42-year-old Penn Yan man was ticketed by Penn Yan Police following a traffic stop in the village Wednesday. Shaun Drennen was spotted driving on Elm Street while his license was allegedly suspended. A traffic stop was initiated and Drennen was ticketed for unlicensed operation and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Yates Sheriff’s Office Warns of Suspicious Activity in Indian Pines

The Yates County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents to suspicious activity in the areas of lower and upper Indian Pines in the town of Jerusalem. On social media, the sheriff’s office reported it had received reports of a man, dressed completely in black, and wearing a black backpack, who has been looking into houses and area properties at different times over the last few days.

Palmyra Man Hits Barn With Car in Yates County Accident

A Wayne County man was taken to the hospital Tuesday night after his car went off the road and struck a barn in the town of Middlesex. 57-year-old Marc Hurlbut was traveling north on State Route 245 in Middlesex when his car left the east side of the road, striking the ditch and a tree before hitting the barn and coming to a stop. Hurlbut was extricated from his car by Middlesex firefighters. He was taken to Thompson Hospital by Middlesex Ambulance for unknown injuries.

Campbell Man Arrested for Allegedly Choking a Sheriff's Deputy

CAMPBELL, N.Y. (WENY) - A Campbell man was arrested for allegedly choking a sheriff's deputy. According to the Steuben County Sheriff's Office, 50 year old Kris Calkins of Campbell was arrested following an alleged attack on a deputy. The sheriff's office says the deputy was serving as a peacekeeper on Parker Road in the town.

Livingston Co Man Charged With DWI In Hornellsville

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on August 15, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested David P. Werdein, age 63, of Sand Hill Road, Caledonia, New York, following an investigation of a reported disabled vehicle on SR 36, Town of Hornellsville, New York. It is alleged that Mr. Werdein operated a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. It is further alleged that Mr. Werdein crashed into a guide rail in Livingston County, left the scene, and subsequently left his vehicle on SR 36 in the Town of Hornellsville. Mr. Werdein was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Operating a Motor Vehicle with Greater than .08% Blood Alcohol Content, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Crash and Moving From Lane Unsafely. Mr. Werdein was released on traffic summons to appear in the Hornellsville Town Court at a later date.

Sheppard takes SummerFAST race at Brewerton Speedway

Happy Tuesday! Weather on repeat today. We start our day mostly cloudy with showers in our western counties. The best opportunity for showers across the Twin Tiers is this afternoon and evening as scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms develop. Temperatures today reach near 80. Overnight, stray showers linger, especially early overnight. Aside from the stray showers, we are mostly cloudy. Some patchy fog develops late overnight and into early tomorrow morning. Lows tonight are in the upper 50s. Once again, we see mostly cloudy conditions on Wednesday and scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms develop for the afternoon and evening. Highs are in the low 80s.

Hemlock Man Arrested on Yates County Warrant

A Hemlock man wanted on a warrant out of Town of Potter Court is in Yates County Jail after being arrested by State Police. 42-year-old Jeremy Payne was turned over to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office after a traffic stop by State Police. Payne had an outstanding warrant for a violation of his conditional discharge.
