Sheriff's department adds marine deputies

In April, Ronald Sprowls and Steve Houk, of the Branch County Sheriff’s Department, attended the Marine Training Academy held at the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. During their week of training, Sprowls and Houk spent time learning defensive tactics (Jiu-Jitsu), drown proofing and water rescue, and more to keep Branch County residents safe on the water this summer. A total of 68 members from different law enforcement agencies throughout the state attended the training.

Verrill case bound over to Circuit Court after preliminary exam is waved
