Investigators said the multi-agency operation was at least two months in the making and targeted drug dealers who were selling and trafficking opioids, including fentanyl in Brockton.

Demolition of Norwood Hospital, ruined by 2020 flood, underway

NORWOOD -- Demolition is underway at Norwood Hospital. The hospital has been closed since it flooded in June 2020 when nearly six inches of rain fell in just a few hours. A new 400,000-square-foot facility will be built on the same property. It's the area's first newly constructed hospital in over 25 years. There will be emergency services, 10 operating rooms, a regional STEMI Center with state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization labs, advanced diagnostic imaging services, and outpatient services.All of the hospital's patients needed to be evacuated as four feet of water filled the basement, knocking out electricity. Two people were temporarily trapped, but no one was hurt.

Two people dead after serious crash in Brighton

BOSTON, Mass. — Authorities are investigating a car crash on Soldiers Field Road that killed two people Monday night. According to State Police, an 85-year-old Belmont man was pulling his 2019 Acura out of a business in the area of 1800 Soldiers Field Road just after 7:00 p.m. when he was hit by a 2016 Infiniti traveling eastbound. The man was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. His passenger, an 83-year-old Belmont woman, was also transported to the hospital where she died overnight.

BOSTON – A state lawmaker from Worcester accused of driving drunk with a blood alcohol level four times the legal limit has accepted a plea deal. State Rep. David LeBoeuf will lose his license for 45 days and will be forced to pay $600 in fines.LeBoeuf was arrested in April. State Police troopers said his SUV "appeared to be disabled and smoking" near the Adams MBTA station on the Burgin Parkway in Quincy.Police say they found nine empty nips and two cans of wine in his vehicle. His vehicle was also missing a front tire. LeBoeuf apologized and said he would get treatment.

NORWOOD, Mass. — Two years after Norwood Hospital was inundated by catastrophic flooding, demolition of the damaged facility is underway to make room for a new hospital. On June 28, 2020, more than 4 inches of rain fell in Norwood in approximately 90 minutes. In low-lying areas, like the parking lots outside the hospital, several feet of water collected rapidly.

2 MA men charged in connection to shooting of 16-year-old

Two men charged in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy at a party in September were held without bail at their arraignment. Angel Vasquez, 23, and Angel Colon, 22, both pleaded not guilty to murder and firearms charges in the death of Leidson Monteiro-Terry in Brockton District Court on Monday, the Plymouth district attorney's office said.
