Bradford Co. Constable Removed from Office Over Criminal Background

BRADFORD COUNTY, PA (WENY) -- A constable in Bradford County is being removed from his position, after an investigation into his criminal history. Shane Peters was elected as a constable in November 2021, after a tie-breaker write-in in Sheshequin Township. It was discovered that Peters has two prior sexual abuse convictions; one was from 2003 for Indecent Acts with a Minor, and the other was in New York State in 2006 for Second Degree Sexual Abuse. Peters is listed on the state's sex offender registry.

Long-term Road Work in Broome and Bradford Counties

Motorists should be aware of a couple long-term construction projects in Broome and Bradford Counties that are getting underway. The New York State Department of Transportation advises Route 11 from Castle Creek to Cortland County will be having periodic lane closures for guiderail replacement from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily into July. Flaggers will be controlling alternating one-way traffic through the open lanes. The closures will begin in the northbound direction.

Wyalusing Man Charged in Rape Investigation

BRADFORD COUNTY, PA (WENY) -- A 19-year-old man from Bradford County faces time in jail following his arrest on rape charges. Pennsylvania State Police charged Cody Griffith of Wyalusing after an investigation into the reported rape of a 17-year-old female victim who was unconscious. The incident happened sometime in the overnight hours of July 31st into August 1st of 2021, in Overton Township.
