Man Accused of Shoving Victim to the Ground, Head-Butting Him

CLARION BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A Clarion man is facing assault and related charges for allegedly shoving a victim to the ground and then head-butting him when he stood up. Court documents indicate that the Clarion Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 53-year-old David Anthony Christie on Monday, August 1, in Magisterial District Judge Duane L. Quinn’s office.

Elliott Acres highlights equine therapy at annual horse show

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Many spent the day hanging out with some majestic horses, helping a local non-profit in the process.Elliott Acres in Butler held its annual horse show and fundraiser today.Elliot Acres is a therapeutic riding center that helps people with physical, intellectual, and emotional disabilities by taking care of and riding horses.The event ran through 5 PM this afternoon. Many saw what riders learned over the summer, as well as learned about the benefits of equine therapy.There was also a Chinese auction and refreshments and t-shirts for sale.

Car gets stuck in the middle of the road on Slippery Rock University's campus

SLIPPERY ROCK TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - Heavy downpour on Friday caused a pond on Slippery Rock University's campus to overflow which resulted in flooding on Kiester Road. Then, the flooding caused a car to get stuck in the middle of the water on the road. The 20-year-old driver from Pittsburgh was visiting his girlfriend, a student at the university, said the water was up to his windows. "I left work and I came here and I was really freaking out when I saw how high the water was and I kept calling him but he was talking to the firefighters," the student said. "Then his sister called me, and my dad called me, and my mom called me, so, everyone was kind of freaking out." A firefighter was able to lower a life bucket to the driver, he was lifted into the bucket, and taken to safety. He was not hurt.

Elderly Man Seriously Injured After ATV Is Struck By SUV

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Franklin man was seriously injured when the ATV he was riding was struck by an SUV in Cranberry Township, Venango County. According to a release issued on Friday by Franklin-based State Police, the accident happened on July 28 around 2:21 p.m. when John B. Best, 82, of Franklin, failed to yield while attempting to cross Bredinsburg Road.

Man Shot to Death by State Police After Armed Standoff in Rouseville

ROUSEVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – A 59-year-old Venango County man was shot dead by state police on Saturday morning during a standoff after he came out armed with a handgun. PSP Franklin received a call around 11:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, from a 32-year-old female from Oil City. The female complainant reported her relative, 59-year-old Douglas Stanton, of Rouseville, had been calling and texting her throughout the afternoon making threats to commit suicide by shooting himself. The victim made statements that if any police officers showed up at his house, he would shoot them and then kill himself with his 9mm pistol, according to police.

Joseph R. Trocci, 72

Joseph R. Trocci, 72, of Ellwood City, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Brighton Township following a brief illness. Born in New Castle on March 7, 1950, Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Christina Papa Trocci. He married the former Madelyn Hervatine on April 29, 1978. Joe worked for Sparmon Fichler for twenty-five years, then at Trader Horn in Ellwood City for ten years until it closed. Most recently, Joe spent his summers working at Pittsburgh International Race Complex and his winters substitute teaching at both the New Castle and Ellwood City Area School Districts. A member of Divine Grace Parish, Joe umpired both softball and baseball and refereed C.Y.O. basketball. He enjoyed reading, sitting on the front porch and listening to Pittsburgh Pirates games.
