Orofino Man Suffers Minor Injuries After Striking Deer With Motorcycle on US12 Wednesday Night

PECK - On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at approximately 8:29pm, Idaho State Police Troopers responded to a crash eastbound on US12 near milepost 35 that involved a motorcycle. According to a release from the Idaho State Police, 59-year-old Theodore Mills, of Orofino, was traveling eastbound on US 12 near milepost 35. Mills was unable to avoid a deer and struck it directly, causing him to be thrown from the motorcycle. Mills was not wearing a helmet, but only sustained minor injuries. Mills was transported to Clearwater Valley Hospital.

Three people were injured in two separate motorcycle crashes on U.S. Highway 12 late Wednesday and early Thursday. In the first crash, Theodore Mills, 59, of Orofino, was eastbound on his motorcycle about 8:29 p.m. Wednesday near milepost 35 when he was unable to avoid hitting a deer in the road. Mills was thrown from the bike during the collision. He was not wearing a helmet and sustained minor injuries, according to a news release from the Idaho State Police.

Pullman’s next school bus will be the first zero-emission vehicle thanks to a state grant which covers the cost of the upgrade. According to a news release from the Washington Department of Ecology, the Pullman School District will receive $275,000 to help purchase a new electric school bus and charging station. There is currently only one electric school bus operating in the entire state, according to an Ecology spokesman. Joe Thornton, director of operations for Pullman schools, said the bus would be ordered for delivery in the summer of 2021 — around the time the region’s new transportation center would be completed. … Construction of a mixed-use development on the corner of Sixth and Jackson streets in Moscow was expected to start this year, but the coronavirus pandemic will delay construction until next year at the earliest. Moscow developer Rusty Olps submitted a request last week to the Moscow Urban Renewal Agency to extend the current exclusive negotiation agreement schedule to the end of 2020 so he has time to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the local economy and viability of his proposed development project, which is called Moscow Flatiron LLC.

According to the Orofino Police Department (OPD), on Tuesday, May 4, at approximately 12:03 p.m., OPD was dispatched to a two vehicle accident at Highway 12 and the Orofino Bridge. According to the report, Priscilla Struck, of Orofino, was traveling across the bridge and turning down river. After entering Highway 12, she reportedly attempted a U-turn on Highway 12, crossing a down river inside left lane.

Semitruck wreck north of Moscow
