Investigation underway after body discovered on South Pine Street

Around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday evening, the Lima Police Department responded to the 500 block of South Pine Street on reports of a body being found. According to scanner traffic, investigative units were called to a home there. They say they are treating it as a crime scene, but are not sure at this point if foul play is involved.

House fire on W. Kibby

A house fire in Lima late Thursday afternoon caused no injuries but is under investigation. Lima Police Department responded to the 700 block of West Kibby Street around 4:30 p.m. for reports of a possible explosion or fire. They found some smoke coming out of the windows. They went in and extinguished what they say was a small fire on the first floor. Neighbors tell us that they say they heard a loud "pop noise" coming from the house before the fire department pulled up. No one was inside the rented-out house at the time.

City man cited for two-vehicle crash on 68

A local driver was cited for causing a two-vehicle crash on Route 68 at Township Road 30 (north of West Liberty) Thursday afternoon around 3:45. The Logan County Sheriff's Office reports that Brandon Hodge, 29, of Bellefontaine, was driving a 2009 Dodge Ram northbound on 68 when he rear-ended a 2011 Ford Edge operated by Paula Bell, 60, of rural Bellefontaine.

LIMA — A Lima man who fled the scene of a fatal Shawnee Township car crash pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of aggravated vehicular homicide, a second-degree felony. Dalton Roessler, 21, appeared in Allen County Common Pleas Court on Thursday morning to accept a plea agreement for his role in the October 2020 fatal crash that killed 17-year-old Sierra Stewart.
