Cemetery fire causes farm to evacuate horses

BELEN, N.M. — The tight knit community of Belen came together to help save a farm. On Saturday, the Cemetery fire began to burn feet from Double-LL Farms. "It started on the south end of the Bosque, right before you go across the Rio Grande River and the drainage ditch. Then after that it just exploded," said W.L. Mooring, owner of Double LL Farms. "With us not having any grass, or where the horses have took dumps, all that ash was coming over here and catching us on fire. At any given time there was 50 to 60 little fires going on our property."
