Several Boone County deputies respond to Columbia home with armored vehicle

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) Deputies with the Boone County Sheriff's Office confirmed they served a search warrant at a Columbia home Tuesday morning. ABC 17 News crews saw several deputies with the Boone County Sheriff's Office on Jewell Avenue near the intersection with Highview Avenue at 7:30 a.m. An armored vehicle was also at the scene. A Crawford County man is shot and arrest4eds after allegedly breaking into a relative’s home. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a home in the 23000 block of Schunemeyer Road near Centralia, just after midnight on Sunday. A caller said someone was walking around his property, threatening him and hitting the windows of the home. The caller advised that he and a woman were hiding inside the home.

Ashland facing numerous charges after several run ins with police

A Boone County man is facing multiple charges after he violates an order of protection then tries to flee the area. Ashland police officers were contacted last week to investigate Christopher Koehler, 55, of Ashland, for violating an order of protection. When officers took him into custody last Thursday at his home, he attempted to escape the patrol car. Officers also report they found a pipe and methamphetamine on Koehler.

Columbia man arrested on child porn charges

A Columbia man is arrested on child pornography charges. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office says it received a tip that someone in Columbia was using an online platform to distribute files of juvenile boys engaging in sexual acts. An investigator identified the account holder as Ben Melvin. Melvin was arrested yesterday for possession of child pornography and promoting child pornography. Police say at the time of his arrest, they found more illicit files on Melvin’s personal device.
