Child drowns at Perdido Pass, life flighted to Pensacola

A five-year-old male child was rescued from the Perdido Pass at approximately 5 p.m. June 14. The incident occurred approximately 300 yards from Lifeguard Tower 2 at Alabama Point East. The child was out of the water by the time lifeguards arrived. Orange Beach Fire Department also responded to the call.

Improvements starting on Twin Beech Road

FAIRHOPE – Twin Beech road will have a new turn lane at U.S. 98 by the start of the upcoming school year, city and state transportation officials said. ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WEAR) — A young boy is airlifted to a hospital in Pensacola after being pulled from the Gulf of Mexico at Orange Beach. Brett Lesinger, the Chief of Safety Division at the Orange Beach Fire Department, told Channel 3 News they received a call around 4:52 p.m. of a "drowning at the Perdido Pass just 50 yards from the Perdido Pass bridge".

GULF SHORES, Ala. (WALA) -- Fourth of July fireworks will return to Gulf Shores a year after the show was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fireworks will be shot from the Gulf State Park Pier at 9 p.m. on the Fourth. The city said ongoing construction to repair Hurricane Sally damage will force them to use the center part of the pier instead of the end, so the best place to view the show will be from Gulf State Park and the eastern area of the Gulf Shores Public Beach.
