Bly marker dedication ceremony is Saturday

A Blue Star Marker, the first in Klamath County on Highway 140 East and only the fifth such marker in the county, will be dedicated at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bly. The markers, which are located on highways nationwide, are tributes to U.S. armed forces for defending the nation. Installation of the markers began after World War II by the national garden club.

Fremont-Winema National Forest is looking for volunteers to spend the 2022 summer season as campground hosts at the Lofton and Cottonwood Meadows campgrounds. Camp hosting is a great opportunity to spend your summer enjoying national forest lands while helping others do the same. Camp hosts are friendly, knowledgeable and available. They set a good example and help visitors feel at home while providing information, explaining fees, and performing light maintenance such as cleaning campsites, picnic tables and grills, restocking toilet paper and fee envelopes, patrolling for litter and keeping sites free of weeds.

Pickett, Cynthia Lee

Cynthia Lee Pickett, 58, passed away at her home in Bonanza on April 15, 2022. Cynthia was born June 4, 1963 in Portland, Ore. Survivors include her daughters, Courtney (Ryan) Pickett, Alyssa Pickett, Chelsea Pickett, Rhianne Pickett; son, Robert Pickett; parents, Catherine and Arthur Hart; brothers, Doug Hart and Dwayne Hart; sisters, Debra Brunswick and Cheryl Norris; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Dave Pickett. A celebration of life will be held in Beaverton, Ore. at a later date. Nicholas love fishing and hiking he loved being outdoors anything with the outdoors. He loves spending time with his family especially time with his children Reiley and Bradley. Services will be held for Nicholas on Wednesday April 20th from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Davenport's chapel Klamath falls Oregon Internment will take place Friday morning at veterans memorial Park.

Michael Lynn Hewitt, 70, passed away at his home in Bly, Ore. on March 30, 2022. Michael was born in Lakeview, Ore. to Walter and Josephine Huitt. Hel grew up and lived in Lakeview and the Klamath Falls area. Michael had a passion for the outdoors and especially loved being at Summit Lake in Nevada. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding horses. Being outdoors was where he loved to be. Michael has four children and many friends and family that he loved dearly. Michael is survived by his son, Michael Huitt Jr.; daughters; Nichole Stevens, Ami Conlon, and Fanny Burdette; brother; Reggi Lee Townsand; sisters; Connie Summers, Robin Burdette, Mary Huitt, and Newts Glinsman, many grandchildren and special friends Mark and Destiny. He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Brown McCloud, father, Walter Huitt, sister, Linda Rommona and brothers, Brand Huitt and Jay Huitt.
