A Damascus man has been arrested and is facing multiple charges after leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit. 34-year-old Joseph Matthew Griffin was arrested for possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug-related objects, fleeing/attempting to elude, reckless driving, speeding, driving while license suspended, following too closely, and stop sign violation.

Congressman Bishop requests funding for community projects in Colquitt and Leesburg

Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) has requested funding for community projects in Colquitt and Leesburg. He announced that the community project funding requests have been included in the Fiscal Year 2023 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies subcommittee bill which was approved by the subcommittee yesterday. The bill will now go to the full House Appropriations Committee for approval.

2 shootings in 10 days in Abbeville could be related, police say

ABBEVILLE, Ala. (WDHN) — Since the beginning of June, the city of Abbeville has seen two separate shootings. Abbeville Police are now asking for help from the community. Abbeville Police say they now have the evidence to believe the shooting on June 3rd and the shooting on June 13th are related.

Abbeville traffic stop turned drug bust lands 2 in jail

ABBEVILLE, Ala. (WTVY) - A typical Saturday traffic stop in Abbeville turned into a major drug bust for police that resulted in two arrests. Abbeville Police Chief Eric Blankenship in a statement Tuesday afternoon told us while officers conducted the June 11 stop for minor infractions, things turned another direction when mushrooms, drug paraphernalia, and around 4.1 pounds of marijuana were recovered by law enforcement.
