Mainly one big question: How will staffing struggles, compounded by high inflation, impact small businesses that depend on the dollars that summer tourism brings?

TUPPER LAKE — Just under 400 people on Saturday participated in the Tupper Lake Tinman Triathelon — as 137 women and 259 men tested their abilities in the half-Ironman. Of the 396 participants, Malone’s Dave Schanck was a local finisher. The Franklin County resident placed 177th amongst male competition and ranked 264th overall on the day.

NORTH CREEK — New York State’s Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) announces opening dates and times for summer activities at Gore Mountain. Scenic Skyrides – Northwoods Gondola will be open Thursday through Sunday, plus holidays, June 30 through Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In fall, the gondola operates Saturdays and Sundays.

June 17-18 The Central Adirondack Association will be holding its Annual Father’s Day Weekend activities again this year. At 7 p.m. on Friday, June 17, the Antique & Classic Car Tour will begin at North Country Market in Thendara, and cruise up and down Main Street. Participants will line up at the Market at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, June 18, the Antique & Classic Car Rally will take place at the North Street pavilion. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. No pre-registration is necessary. Vehicles are $20 per car, and spectators are admitted free of charge. There will be music and door prizes. All may purchase food and beverages provided by North Country Market. Each spectator will be given one ballot to vote on their favorite vehicle. At 2 p.m., Spectator Choice Awards will be given out: $250 for first place, $150 for second place and $100 for third, thanks to our sponsors Adirondack Garage and North Country Market.

They need everything from Admissions, Office and Administrative work, Parking lot attendees, Lifeguards, and ride attendants just to name a few, but even with the staff shortage Vice President/Director Marketing Katie Wojdyla says they still plan on opening the entire park.
