Driver charged in crash on freeway ramp

MANKATO — A Minneapolis man was driving a stolen vehicle recklessly without a license when he caused a crash on a Mankato freeway ramp, charges say. Ali Abas Ibrahim, 21, was charged with felony receiving property, misdemeanor reckless driving and misdemeanor driving after license suspension Monday in Blue Earth County District Court.

Vaccine outreach goes door to door to underserved

MANKATO — To spread the word about a neighborhood vaccine clinic set for Tuesday, organizers recently went door to door near downtown Mankato. It was the latest example of outreach efforts aimed at getting more people vaccinated against COVID-19. Although Blue Earth County’s vaccine rate is relatively strong within south-central Minnesota, numbers have slowed to a crawl in June and about 40% of the 12-and-older population remains unvaccinated.

Blue Earth County resident among weekend COVID deaths

A Blue Earth County resident in their early 60’s was among the 14 new deaths reported by state health officials over the weekend. It’s the 44th death of the pandemic in Blue Earth County, where 61% of people ages 16 and older have received at least one vaccine dose, according to data released Friday.

Blue Earth County Informs the Public of Passport Processing Time

The US Department of State has announced that current passport processing time is about 18 weeks to receive a passport. All initial applications and renewal applications are sent to the US Department of State for processing. Initial applications are reviewed and mailed by the Blue Earth County Property and Environmental Resources office. Renewal applications can also be reviewed but are mailed by the applicant.

The Blue Earth County Library System (BECLS) is excited to welcome educators from the University of Minnesota’s Raptor Center for a presentation at Sibley Park Shelter #3 on Thursday, June 24 at 10:30 AM.
