More trouble for Derek Chauvin

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (AP) — There is more trouble for Derek Chauvin. Federal prosecutors are asking a judge to give former Minneapolis Officer a 25-year sentence for violating the rights of George Floyd, as well as the rights of a 14-year-old Black boy who was restrained in an unrelated case.

3 injured after car crashes into Bloomington house

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Authorities are investigating after a multi-vehicle injury left three injured and one vehicle lodged partly inside a nearby home in Bloomington.The Bloomington Fire Department shared images of the crash's aftermath. Multiple stations responded to the crash, which was located near the intersection of West 106th Street and Thomas Avenue.The fire department said three people had to be extricated and were taken to local hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately available.The city police department is investigating the crash. No possible cause has been released.

Man critically wounded after shooting in downtown Minneapolis parking ramp

MINNEAPOLIS -- A shooting early Saturday morning in downtown Minneapolis left a man critically wounded. The Minneapolis Police Department says the shooting happened around 3:20 a.m. on the 24 block of 8th Street South. Responding officers found a 27-year-old man lying outside a vehicle in a parking ramp.Emergency crews brought the man to Hennepin Healthcare for treatment. Authorities described his injuries as "potentially life-threatening." The shooting remains under investigation. So far, no arrests have been made. The early morning shooting comes hours after another shooting on the north side left a 19-year-old dead. No one has yet been arrested in that shooting, which marked the 43rd homicide in the city this year.

19-year-old man shot, killed in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS -- Police are investigating a deadly shooting early Saturday morning in north Minneapolis.The Minneapolis Police Department says the shooting happened shortly after midnight near the intersection of Lowry and Aldrich avenues. Several 911 callers reported that a man was behind a home on the 700 block of 31st Avenue North. Responding officers found a 19-year-old with serious gunshot wounds. Emergency crews brought him to North Memorial Medical Center, where he died. Police combed the area of the shooting for witnesses and evidence, but no arrests were made. The man's death marks the 43rd homicide in the city this year. He has not been identified, pending an investigation by the medical examiner's office.

Man arrested after kidnapping woman at workplace, holding her for hours inside Brooklyn Park home

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. -- A Twin Cities man was arrested Friday after he allegedly kidnapped a woman and held her against her will for several hours inside his home. The Brooklyn Park Police Department says the woman, who knew the man, was able to break free around 3:30 p.m., when she fled the home and got neighbors to call for help. The 911 caller reported what happened as a domestic assault. Officers responded to the neighborhood and stopped the man as he was driving way. He was arrested without incident. The victim told officers that the man kidnapped her around 6 a.m. while she was arriving at her workplace in nearby Plymouth. The man drove her to his home in the north Minneapolis suburb, where he held the woman against her will for roughly nine hours.
