Person killed in Danville shooting identified

DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - A 25-year-old man who died from a gunshot wound to the upper body Saturday evening in Danville has been identified. Police found the victim, Davanta T. Calhoun-Jackson of Danville, in the 600 block of Grant Street at about 9:20 pm. Calhoun-Jackson was then taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The investigation indicates the shooting happened on Chandler Street and the victim may have then run to Grant.

The push is on to improve mental health in the Hoosier state

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - There's a push to improve mental health in Indiana. A new partnership will train people in mental health first aid. The initiative is from the American Academy of Physician Associates and the Indianapolis Colts. Training for physician associates will include faculty members from Indiana-based programs.

DHS Future Problem Solvers Continue Gardens for Veterans Mission: AL Post 210 Dedication on Memorial Day

It’s one down and one to go for Danville High School’s Future Problem Solvers students. Their chosen mission this school year was to do something special for Veterans, and last weekend they dedicated the new garden for Mercy Housing at Cannon Place out by the VA Illiana Health Care campus. This coming Memorial Day Monday at 9:30 AM, they’ll be dedicating the garden they’ve been working on at American Legion Post 210, at Prospect Place and Jackson.
