KENNETT – Notre Dame senior pitcher Grant James wasn’t perfect on Monday in his outing in the MSHSAA Class 2 District 1 semifinal against Dexter at Indian Park in Kennett. But he was pretty good on the mound and really good at the plate, as the Bulldogs topped the Bearcats 7-3 and moved on to the championship game on Wednesday (5 p.m.) against the Class 4 defending state champion, Kennett.

One dead following motorcycle accident near Malden

One person was killed in a wreck involving a motorcycle last week near Malden. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Jaymara Madrigal-Gutierrez, of Holcomb, hit the back of a motorcycle on Missouri Highway 25, causing both people on the motorcycle to be ejected. A passenger on the motorcycle, identified as 58-year-old Anita Wyatt, of Bernie, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the motorcycle suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Memphis hospital. Madrigal-Gutierrez and her passenger suffered minor injuries and were transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital. This is the 24th fatality for Troop E this year.
