Man arrested after standoff with Texarkana police

TEXARKANA, Texas (KTAL/KSHV) – A man in Texarkana, Texas was arrested late Thursday after a standoff with police. Max Kelly reportedly barricaded himself inside a home on the 200 block of Jerome St. after he told 911 dispatchers he was stabbed in a fight. When officers arrived at the scene around 7:30 p.m., they found that two other people were inside the home with him.

Texarkana Regional Airport purchasing new property

TEXARKANA, USA (KTAL/KMSS) – The Texarkana Regional Airport is purchasing eight acres of land to attract some aviation-based businesses to the area. Both sides of the city approved a resolution authorizing the purchase from Plainfield LLC. The undeveloped land is located between the airport’s property and East 19th Street.

Airport leaders hope new property will boost Texarkana economy

TEXARKANA, Ark. - The Texarkana Regional Airport is moving forward on the purchase of 8-acres of land that could attract more business to the area. Both cities have approved a resolution authorizing the airport authority to purchase the land, which is just south of the new terminal building. The 8-acres of undeveloped land is located between the airport's property and some land owned by the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce.

Mystery Of The “Raining Fish” In Texarkana

A couple of sleuths think they’ve cracked the case of falling fish in Texarkana. Last December, hundreds of fish fell on roads, roofs, and even the runway in Texarkana during a storm. Pennsylvania independent natural phenomenon researcher Sharon Hill and Australian author Paul Cropper think Cormorants dumped them from the mouths and stomachs. Many locals said the large to medium size fowl are common in the area. She says these sensitive birds tend to lose their lunch when they get upset. Some fish was as long as six inches, and the University of Texas lab for biodiversity hopes to test the mess for bird DNA samples.
