Sheriff: 60-year-old woman arrested following standoff situation

SPICER, Minn. -- Kandiyohi County officials say less-lethal impact rounds were used to subdue a 60-year-old woman during a standoff situation Sunday.According to officials, the incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. at a home on the 200 block of 5th Avenue in Spicer. Deputies were dispatched to a home after a shots fired report. When deputies arrived, they evacuated residents of the house and nearby homes, and set up a perimeter. After initial attempts to contact the 60-year-old woman failed, she eventually exited the home but was not compliant, officials said. That's when less-lethal rounds were used and the suspect was subdued without further incident. The suspect was booked into Kandiyohi County Jail and the case remains under investigation.

Marching Band Weekend Results

The Litchfield High School Marching Band had another successful weekend of marching in parades. The Band received its highest score of the season on Sunday in Lake City: 89.2. They took first place in Lake City and won the Outstanding Color Guard award. The Band also marched on Saturday in Glencoe and Eden Valley, but there was no judging in those parades.

Zebra mussels found in Long Lake near Willmar

(Willmar MN-) The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has confirmed a report of zebra mussels in Long Lake, which is near Willmar in Kandiyohi County. A lake property owner contacted the DNR after his daughter found a zebra mussel attached to a rock while swimming in the lake. DNR invasive species specialists conducted a snorkel search of two areas of the 1,568-acre lake. They found a single zebra mussel at each location.
