Protests planned in Burlington over Roe V Wade ruling

Burlington, IA- A group of local women have organized protests in response to the recent overturning of Roe V Wade. 2 protests have been scheduled to take place Tuesday in Downtown Burlington. The First Protest will take place at the Des Moines County Courthouse at 10 AM. The Second protest will begin at 6 PM at the bottom of Snake Alley and end at the Memorial Auditorium.

Keokuk woman arrested for arson

Keokuk, IA- A Keokuk woman is facing arson charges following a house fire. TV Station KHQA reports that the Keokuk Fire Department was called to a house fire Sunday in the 1300 block of Oak Street. The house was fully involved in flames and everyone was able to escape the home.

Fort Madison 4th of July celebration

Fort Madison, IA- The Fort Madison Independence Day celebration will be held Monday, July 4th, at Riverview Park. Only a small portion of the park west of the pavilion will be blocked off for the pyrotechnics safety zone. To accommodate spectators, Avenue H will be barricaded at 6th and 10th Streets beginning at 8:00 PM.

Area High School Baseball Players Take Part in the QC Area vs. QC Metro All-Star Game

Four local high school baseball players were a part of the Quad Cities Metro vs. Quad Cities Area High School All-Star Baseball Game at Douglas Park in Rock Island on Wednesday night. In the past 100 years, only one full season of Monmouth College football has ended without a single blemish. The Fighting Scots were a perfect 9-0 in 1972, winning four blowouts before a series of five straight contested victories, capped by a triumph over arch-rival St. Olaf. That victory over the Oles gave Monmouth its first-ever outright Midwest Conference football championship. There would not be another one for 33 years. By then, undefeated regular seasons were rewarded with a trip to the NCAA playoffs, so that 2005 campaign – and three others since – ended with postseason defeats. That makes 1972 the last undefeated season for Fighting Scots football.
