The Rockin Chicken in Hartford—So Much More Than Chicken

You might hear the name The Rockin Chicken (TRC) and think it’s yet another really good chicken-themed joint, like West Hartford’s Chicken Citizen & Donuts, Wethersfield’s El Pollo Guapo, Newington’s Rooster Co. or the Elm City’s Hot Haven Chicken. But you’ll see it’s actually so much more. Since TRC opened in June, 2016 on Franklin Avenue in Hartford, it has been my go-to for Peruvian food, long one of my favorite cuisines.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke coming from the rear of the building, according to Chief Charlie Durfee. "The owner of the building had hired a couple of guys to do some roof repairs. The popular casual dining concept founded by brothers Mark, Donnie, and Executive Chef Paul Wahlberg, and the subject of A&E Network’s Emmy-nominated reality show for 10 seasons, will feature a chef-inspired menu that brings guests its signature lineup of burgers along with entrée salads, sandwiches, and more. The restaurant’s full bar will offer a large selection of craft cocktails, wines, and local beers. The Lone Wolf, owned by Rob Watson, will not reopen after a 14 month struggle due to the COVID-19 restrictions. AMHERST — The Lone Wolf, a 17-year restaurant in downtown Amherst, will not be reopening as the COVID-19 pandemic eases. Owner and chef Rob Watson announced in a letter to customers on the restaurant’s Facebook page that he has decided not to resume operations of the sit-down breakfast and lunch cafe at 63 Main St., which temporarily closed in spring 2020, reopened last summer, but then shut down again through the winter.
