Easton has its first $10M of COVID rescue cash, and is adding jobs

Easton last week received $10.3 million of the $20.7 million allocated to the city from the American Rescue Plan, and is wasting no time in putting the money to use. City council on Wednesday immediately introduced budget changes up for final approval June 23 to spend $854,111 of the money on restoring jobs cut due to revenue losses linked to the coronavirus pandemic.

Weekly Pa. COVID update: New cases down 80% over last month, 72.8% of adults have 1st shot

Vaccinations continue to cause Pennsylvania’s rate of new coronavirus cases to plummet despite loosening restrictions. Over the last month, the seven-day average of daily new cases has fallen 80% to 439 new infections a day and 19 deaths a day over the last week, according to Pennsylvania Department of Health data. The case rate may soon fall below its lowest point since last June.
