Niineta

“No chants,” the title of the fierce and propulsive fifth track on Joe Rainey’s debut album Niineta, carries a double meaning. On one hand, it can be interpreted as a defensive posture, taken on behalf of pow wow singers like him against any outsider who might paint their musical tradition as simplistic by labeling it “chanting” as opposed to singing. But the phrase also has a more playful origin—adopted as a homonym, Rainey has said, for the catchphrase and theme song of Vince McMahon, the love-to-hate-him chief executive of World Wrestling Entertainment: no chance. As in, you’ve got no chance in hell.

Vikings Camp Battles & Roster Projection Part III: Defensive Front

In Part I of this series, I looked at the offensive skill positions, and in Part II the offensive line. Part III is focused on the defensive front- both linemen and linebackers. This may be the most difficult to evaluate in many respects, as the Vikings are moving to a 3-4 front that has subtle differences in trait and skillset requirements. There are also quite a few players with not much to form an evaluation on in terms of NFL regular season experience, so that will make the roster projections for the back half of the depth chart more difficult too.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The intersection of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue is seemingly like any other intersection in south Minneapolis. It’s a tragic event, but it’s a learning event,” said Charles Gallon, who was at the intersection while in town from Florida. 'Absolutely unbelievable' new building opens to help veterans in south Minneapolis

A few years ago, Tom McKenna was in a bit of a pickle.
