FESTUS (KMOV) -- A 13-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was hit by a car following an event at St. Pius X High School Friday in Festus. Crystal City Police tell News 4 the girl was crossing Highway 61 near Surdyke Motorsports when a car that was going around 30 mph hit her. The girl was with her mother and they were walking to their car when it happened.

(Hillsboro) A Hillsboro man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Highway BB north of Three B Road on Thursday afternoon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 56-year-old Micheal Beals was driving a 1995 Chevy 1500 south on BB, traveled off the right side of the roadway, overturned, and was ejected from the truck. Beals was pronounced deceased at the scene. The accident took place a little after 4 o’clock Thursday afternoon.
Two people were injured in a head-on collision on US 61 near Scotts Lane Thursday afternoon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Adam Steffens of Festus was driving a 2015 Dodge Dart south on 61, crossed the center line, and pulled into the path of a 2021 Ford Bronco driven by 34-year-old Lynn Fischer of St. Louis. Richard Fred Hoffarth Sr., 91, of Antonia died June 30, 2022, at Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County. Mr. Hoffarth served was a farm dairy inspector for St. Louis County, a manager of Jefferson County Water District No. 3 and a courier for Sapaugh Motors. He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army and was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. Born July 24, 1930, in Antonia, he was the son of the late Louise (Buechting) and Henry Hoffarth.
