Two injured after National Guard truck crashes in Caldwell

An accident involving a National Guard water truck sent two people to the hospital on Sunday. Deputies responded to Highway 902 in Fredonia, where they learned the rear tires of the truck had ran off the roadway. The driver, 31-year-old Aaron Corley, overcorrected, causing the vehicle to turn over in a ditch.

Princeton City Council accepts bids, approve of hiring individual for Housing Authority

The Princeton City Council accepted multiple bids at a special meeting on June 23rd for the city’s ball field project. City Clerk Cory Willett reports Mallinson Quarry’s bid for rock was accepted upon Department of Natural Resources approval and verification of business license and proper insurance. The bid was for $10.50 for a one-inch base per ton and $12.50 for a 1-1/4-inch rock per ton. Mallinson’s bid was the lowest of the two. The other bid came from Norris Quarries.

Eddyville Woman Charged With Drug Possession

An Eddyville woman was charged with possession of drugs after a traffic stop in Christian County Tuesday night. Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they stopped Shealyn Duvall on Kentucky 1682 near Pennyrile Parkway for expired registration and during the stop, she was not able to show proof of valid insurance.

National Guard soldiers respond to Marion to haul water during crisis

With a state of emergency declared for the City of Marion, Kentucky National Guard soldiers are responding to help with the water crisis. By Friday, soldiers with the 149th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade will begin transporting water from the Cumberland River. Army PLS vehicles will transport non-potable storage tanks daily from the river at Dycusburg to provide Old City Lake with 80,000 gallons of water to offset the daily consumption of Marion's 3,000 residents.
