So I was looking for a nice Victorian style home within a reasonable drive from Chicago. I found one here in Hartford City and that is why I chose to move here,” said the West Virginia native.

DALLAS (June 2, 2021) - Tri Global Energy, a leading originator and developer of utility-scale renewable energy projects, has announced an agreement to sell two renewable energy projects – a wind and a solar project -- in Blackford County, Indiana to Leeward Renewable Energy, a premier owner/operator with a portfolio of approximately 2,000 MW of generating capacity from renewable sources.

A Look Back at Blackford County History: International Sorority

One would not imagine that a group of five women in a small midwestern town like Hartford City could have much effect in the rest of the world. Edith Bocock, Phyllis Langstaff Royce, Ferne Palmer Shick, Violet Pettit Tindall, and Irene Waters Worley, along with 13 other women met on August 29, 1920 in Hartford City, Indiana. The purpose of the meeting was to organize a non-academic sorority which would bring to its members the advantages of friendship and mutual accomplishments offered by a college sorority, with the further benefit of unlimited, active participation. These women formed the first chapter, or alpha chapter of what would become Sigma Phi Gamma International Sorority, Inc., a not for profit service organization which was incorporated in 1924.

BLACKFORD COUNTY - Dallas-based Tri Global Energy, a developer of renewable energy projects, has announced an agreement to sell two renewable energy projects, a wind and a solar project, in Blackford County to Leeward Renewable Energy. A Look Back at Blackford County History: The Gas Boom

In 1886, natural gas was discovered in two counties adjacent to Blackford County. The discoveries were Eaton in Delaware County, and in the city of Portland in Jay County. The Hartford City Gas & Oil Company was formed in early 1887, and successfully drilled a natural gas well later that year. The Montpelier Gas & Oil Mining company was also organized in 1887.

Summer MusicWorks Programming to Begin on June 14th

The Portland Center and the Blackford County Arts Center of Arts Place are accepting students for their Summer MusicWorks program, beginning on June 14th. School-aged students and adults of all ages can enroll in MusicWorks. Lessons will begin June 14th and continue through the week of July 19th. Summer lessons for both adults and students are less than $100. MusicWorks offers instruction in piano, guitar, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone, violin, voice, and many more instruments.
