Sparta Schools Superintendent Could Face Discipline After Investigation

The superintendent of the Sparta Area School District could face some form of discipline after the conclusion of an independent investigation. W-K-B-T/T-V reports Doctor Amy Van Deuren was found to have repeatedly violated the district’s anti-harassment and anti-bullying policies while creating a hostile work environment. The investigator found that Van Deuren engaged in harassing and threatening behavior. Some employees said they were concerned for their physical safety based on her actions and communications. The investigator says Van Deuren denied the allegations but the school board has placed her on administrative leave. An evidentiary hearing will be scheduled.

Disc Golf Program Coming in July

The Neillsville Recreation will hold Disc golf competitions on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. beginning July 12th and culminating with a youth tournament on Tuesday, August 9 th . Kids ages 6 & and older are eligible. Discs will be provided for those that need them. There is no cost for the program, nor do kids have to have previous experience. 38th WBCA All Star Classic Results

The Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association’s 38th All-Star Classic was held this past Friday and Saturday in Oshkosh. The top 72 high school seniors in the state competed on 4 different All-Star Teams. Camden Daul of Stratford, Noah Grimm of Pittsville, Cole Ladick of Wisconsin Rapids and Caden Thauer of Stevens Point were members of the West All-Stars Team while Neillsville head coach Dave Matson was a member of the West All-Star team coaching staff.

Marshfield Medical Center-Neillsville's Pediatric Rehab Program Receives Two Grants

Marshfield Medical Center-Neillsville’s pediatric rehab program recently grew, thanks to two grants from the Marshfield Clinic Health System Foundation. The first grant provided a total swing system, which provides multiple therapeutic opportunities for vestibular and proprioception sensory input, core stabilization, balance and more. The second grant provided a variety of toys that target different ages to help address gross motor needs and other skills.

Neillsville & Marshfield Compete At WIAA/WBCA June-Jam -Scholastic Event

The WIAA/WBCA June-Jam -Scholastic Event was held at the Community First Champion Center in Appleton this past weekend. The Champion Center is the largest sports facility in the state with 8 beautiful hardwood courts all under one roof. 72 varsity boys basketball teams from around the state competed in the two day event. NCAA Division 1, 2, and 3 coaches as well as NAIA and NJCAA coaches were in attendance to scout the young talent.
