31-year-old man killed by police in Savannah

SAVANNAH — The GBI is investigating the shooting of a 31-year-old man by police that occurred Friday. The man is dead and no officers were injured. Preliminary information indicates that at around 11:50 a.m., officers were patrolling an area near Gwinnett Street and Crosby Street when they noticed an individual walking in the middle of Gwinnett Street.

Driver arrested after driving into Rincon parade

RINCON, Ga. — The suspect who drove her car into the crowd of hundreds at the Freedom Rings Parade Saturday has been arrested. The Effingham County Sheriff's Office says Anthony Rodriguez drove around a manned barricade and headed straight for a crowd of parade attendees. Two officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but Rodriguez continued around them narrowly missing pedestrians, according to ECSO.
