Jeffrey Thomas, suspended Somerset District Attorney, given permission to work

SOMERSET (KDKA) - Jeffrey Thomas, the suspended Somerset County District Attorney, has found work. He was given permission to work at his father's garage as he remains under house arrest and electronic monitoring as he awaits trial on sexual assault charges. A court order allowed Thomas to work at the garage in Windber provided he avoids exclusion zones - which are around the alleged victim's home and workplace. Thomas was arrested last year after it was alleged he sexually and physically assaulted a woman in Windber.

Cumberland man arrested following Assault

On Friday, at approximately 10:02 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 900 block of Maryland Avenue to check on the well-being of a female. Police contacted the female resident who reported that she had been assaulted by Terrell Peterson. Officers observed that she had sustained injuries. After further investigation, Peterson was arrested and transported to Central Booking. Peterson was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on his personal recognizance.

Bruceton School gets book vending machine

BRUCETON MILLS — The new vending machine in the Bruceton School cafeteria feeds students’ minds. “We ordered this back in October, and it finally just came in and we got it installed,” Bruceton School Principal Jonas Knotts said Tuesday. “We thought it was a unique idea. Our library here is staffed with volunteers, and with COVID the last two years, that took all the volunteers out of the school, which essentially shut the library down.”
