Man, 72, killed in crash on Interstate 90 in southern Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS -- A 72-year-old man died Friday in a crash on Interstate 90 in southern Minnesota. The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. on the interstate's eastbound lanes near Fairmont Township, which is about 60 miles east of Worthington. Investigators say a Buick sedan crashed into a Chevrolet sedan. The driver of the Buick, Gary Roland Peterson of Granada, was killed. He was not wearing a seat belt. The other driver, a 45-year-old Iowa man, was hospitalized with injuries that were described as "non-life-threatening." Road conditions were dry at the time the crash.

Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– A home on East Lake Okoboji was heavily damaged by a fire that required attention from multiple Dickinson County fire departments Thursday evening. Spirit Lake fire crews got the initial call just before six o’clock from 404 8th Street where flames could be seen coming from the lake side of the structure which led to the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department being called in with a fire boat to pump water from the lake to other responding units.

Sioux City, Iowa — A Milford man faces at least ten years in jail and a fine of ten million dollars after he pleaded guilty to the distribution of meth. This week, 46-year-old Justin Haubrich of Milford pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. The plea was taken in federal court in Sioux City.

Several Area Cities Asking Residents to Conserve Water

Northwest Iowa (KICD)– Several area communities are asking residents to conserve water due to ongoing dry conditions that are putting extra pressure on city systems. The cities of Storm Lake, Sheldon, Wahpeton and Marcus have all made the plea that residents avoid using water during main daylight hours for watering lawns, filling private pools and washing of vehicles, buildings and concrete.

Man jailed for intox in Rock Rapids park

ROCK RAPIDS—A 53-year-old Le Mars man was arrested about 10 p.m. Monday, June 27, on a charge of public intoxication. The arrest of Keith Richard Alesch stemmed from a report of him approaching a 12-year-old girl playing sand volleyball at Westside Park and attempting to pull her away from the court, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

Milford Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Conspiracy

Sioux City, IA (KICD) — 46 year old Justin Haubrich of Milford entered a guilty plea on Tuesday for the charge of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Haubrich said at his plea hearing that he was involved in an operation that distributed at least five pounds of meth between May 2018 and January 2019. He reportedly received meth from sources in Denison and Council Bluffs to distribute in Northwest Iowa.
