Police seek help in finding missing juvenile

The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help in finding a 16-year-old male. According to a social media post, Jackson Long was last seen in the Basin area. He’s described as about 200 pounds and 5’7″ to 5’9″ tall. He was wearing sweatpants, a gray sweatshirt and white Nike Air Force shoes. He might have left on a bike.

Flood Warning Issued for Hyattville; Medicine Lodge Creek at flood stage

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Flood Warning for Snowmelt in Southeastern Big Horn County in central Wyoming until 4:30 PM MDT Tuesday. A gauge near Hyattville on the Medicine Lodge Creek was at 4.3 Feet. Flood stage is 4 feet. The creek is expected recede today, but is expected to rise again tonight cresting between 4.4 and 4.8 feet around 6 AM Monday. This diurnal trend will continue through at least Tuesday. At 4.5 feet, the upper campsites will be totally inundated with water. Lower campsites will begin to be inundated with water.

Town losing administrator to BHC

The Town of Greybull’s administrator and finance director for the past eight years has resigned. Paul Thur informed Mayor Myles Foley on Tuesday, May 18 that he had accepted a job with Big Horn County to serve as its airport manager and land planning manager. His hiring was approved and announced that same day by the county commission.

Who should fix the fence on a county road addressed at commission meeting

Jan Barnett appeared before the Big Horn County Commission at their May 18 meeting to discuss a cattle guard and fence on Davis Lane. She showed a satellite image of the area. She marked where the cattle guard used to be and where it is now. “The old cattle guard used to sit where it hooked on to what is now Boyd’s (Van Fleet) and Lance Cheatham’s. It was private property. The county couldn’t keep that (cattle guard) in place. They kept moving the cattle guard. They kept having problems with it so they chose to move it up to where the new one is.” explained Barnett.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol with the assistance of two Big Horn County school resources officers set up a DUI course on April 31 at the Burlington Schools. The course was the second part of a presentation about not driving impaired and wearing your seatbelt that organized by Vicky Rosser of Greybull. Rosser was hit by a drunk driver between Shell and Greybull.
