CLINTON – It had been 24 games – more varsity games than any member of the Clinton River Kings has played in their career. But that 25th game ended differently – a win. The Clinton River Kings blanked Maquoketa 28-0 on Friday night at home for their first win since Week 4 of the 2018 season, breaking a 24-game losing streak and giving them a win on the season.

Prep report: Assumption takes down Wilton in final at Clinton

Assumption traveled to Clinton High School on Saturday and won four matches to earn a tournament title. Assumption began the day with a pool play matchup against Camanche. The Knights won in straight sets (21-7, 21-9) to drop the Storm’s record to 0-17. Both sets were dominated offensively by Assumption’s A.J. Schubert. The junior outside hitter finished with seven kills and two aces.

Quincy takes out frustrations on UT in rout

It appeared as if the United Township High School football team was caught in a homecoming haze Friday evening that coach Nick Welch feared would happen. That, combined with a Quincy team that seemed to take out some frustration for a bad second half last week in a loss to Moline, proved to be a bad combination for the hosting Panthers, who suffered their first defeat of the season.

Wilton rallies past Durant to remain unbeaten

DURANT, Iowa — Minutes after their heated rivalry ended on the football field, the communities of Durant and Wilton bonded together. Wilton junior Caden Kirkman collapsed and had to be taken to the hospital following Wilton’s 24-22 win over Durant Friday night. As emergency responders did their job, roughly 50 people from both towns stood and watched, and clapped as Kirkman was transported to an ambulance via stretcher.

Water main break leads to school cancellation

Walcott K-8 school is canceled today because of a water main break in front of the school. According to the Davenport Community Schools website: “DUE TO A WATER BREAK IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL WALCOTT K – 8 WILL NOT HAVE SCHOOL TODAY.
