5-month-old girl shot in head, killed in South Shore

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 5-month-old girl was shot in the head Friday evening in South Shore and later died.The shooting happened around 6 p.m. in the 7700 block of South South Shore Drive, police said. The baby, identified as Cecilia Thomas by the Medical Examiner's Office, was in a tan Chevrolet when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, police said.The driver of the car made it to 71st Street between Crandon and Luella avenues about a mile and a half away and sought help.The baby was rushed to the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.It is unclear who else was inside the car with the baby at the time of the shooting, but a 41-year-old man was also shot in the incident. He was shot in the eye area and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.No one was in custody late Friday.

On top of Dax Harwood suffering a shoulder injury that forced him to miss a chunk of the Ring of Honor and IWGP Tag Team Championship match, both Adam Cole and Jon Moxley potentially left the United Center with concussions. Cole, who was already battling injuries entering the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship four-way match, was pinned by Jay White without taking anyone's finisher and was immediately checked on by medical staff.

Small plane crashes in rural Will County

PEOTONE, Ill. (CBS) -- A small plane went down Friday afternoon in rural Will County.The Peotone Fire Department was on the scene for the small plane crash south of Monee and northeast of Peotone. The closest intersection is Will Center and Eagle Lake roads, but the crash scene is next to Rock Creek and far from any road. The fire departments from the Will County communities of Manhattan and Monee also responded.A heavy tow truck was also on the scene to try to stabilize the back end of the plane's fuselage.CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reported the plane appears to have gone down at a steep angle in a wooded area next to the creek. The engine had come loose from the firewall, and it appeared that the plane stalled out and came down at a nose-down, vertical attitude, Habermehl reported.A person was rescued after being trapped inside the wreckage, and was loaded into a University of Chicago Medicine Aeromedical Network helicopter to be taken to the U of C Medical Center.The person's condition was not immediately available.

3 shot, including two 15-year-old boys in Chatham

CHICAGO (CBS) – Three people are shot including two 15-year-old boys in the Chatham neighborhood Friday afternoon. Police said around 3:10 p.m., two boys and a woman, 30, were on the sidewalk, in the 8100 block of South King Drive, when a vehicle pulled up and an unknown offender inside fired shots.The first 15-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the right foot and was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in good condition. The second 15-year-old boy suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was transported to Comer Children's Hospital in serious condition. The woman suffered a gunshot wound to the left shoulder and was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition.There's no information on if anyone is in custody.Area Two detectives are investigating.
