(Bonne Terre) North County Junior Will Dugal showed his prowess on the golf course this season, being named our Regional Radio Golf Player of the Year. Dugal had a phenomenal year for the Raiders, medaling in conference, finishing 5th in districts, and making an appearance in the state tournament. Dugal says staying focused mentally helped him in the postseason.

A convicted criminal with a previous history of violence attacked a woman attempting to fish at a local river access point after he tried to steal her truck. As a result of the June 13 incident, Michael Everett Uhl, born in 1986, of Cuba, stands charged with the class E felony assault in the third degree, the class D felony of tampering in the first degree, and the class D felony of assault in the third degree.

(Bonne Terre, MO) Two people from Bonne Terre, 28 year old Jessie L. DeMay and 35 year old Garry W. Triplett Jr. are in custody at the St. Francois County Jail after being charged with two counts of abuse or neglect of a child. Reports indicate a 3 year old boy is said to have began having seizures at the couple's home June 20th. The toddler was flown to Children's Hospital in St. Louis where it was discovered he had drugs, including fentanyl and methamphetamine, in his system. The boy's 10 year old brother is alleged to have also tested positive for methamphetamine. Both DeMay and Triplett are scheduled for their initial appearance in St. Francois County Circuit Court on the charges Tuesday.

(Potosi, MO) JKK Inheritance Haven Executives are still asking for donations to purchase property for a building where survivors of human trafficking can experience healing. The Executive Director of the Haven, Ronnie Dubois, says the 37 acres has water, septic, electric and a driveway already prepared, and they are looking for sponsors for each acre.

The trial of a Pennsylvania man accused of a brutal Phelps County murder is delayed by six months. Josue Martinez had been scheduled for a jury trial to begin next month. But his trial was rescheduled last week to be held January 9-13, 2023. Martinez is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, tampering with a motor vehicle, and two counts of armed criminal action.

(Cuba) A man from Cuba died a few hours after being flown to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis after a pickup truck crash early Monday morning in Crawford County. The Highway Patrol says the accident happened on I-44 eastbound at mile marker 207.8, just west of Cuba when a Ford Ranger driven by 33-year-old Justin Studdard ran off the road, struck an embankment, the truck overturned and came to rest on it’s side.

A Sullivan man had moderate injuries Wednesday in an accident at the South Service Road and Highway 185. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a 1997 Chervolet Venture driven by Justin Hermann, 25, St. Clair, failed to yield the right of way to a 2004 Cadillac Escalade driven by Larry Rhoades, 66, Sullivan.

William "Bill" Lee Mabe of Steelville was born on Saturday, September 14, 1957 in Cuba, to Richard L. "Step" Mabe, Sr. and Marie Jane Mabe (nee Lancaster). He passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan on Friday, June 24, 2022 at the age of 64 years, 9 months and 10 days.

Bill was a lifelong resident of Steelville and graduated from Steelville High School in 1976. He was of the Catholic faith and later enjoyed listening to Jerry Beers on Wednesdays at Steelville Senior Living. Bill was a master carpenter and worked for Bob Berenzen Construction in St. Louis and later owned his own business.
