Minnesota man convicted of felony assault, harassment, riot

A June 11 jury verdict convicted a Pine City, Minnesota, man of all eight of his charges related to a March 2020 assault. Joshua John Larson, 35, was convicted of two charges of felony third-degree assault, felony harassment and felony second-degree riot – armed with a dangerous weapon. Larson was also convicted of two gross misdemeanor charges, riot in the third degree and assault in the fifth degree, and two misdemeanor charges related to disorderly conduct.

Wis. Prep Report: Northwood/Solon Springs baseball falls to top ranked Webster

The Northwood/Solon Springs 2021 baseball season came to an end in the WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinals Tuesday, June 22, via a 10-7 loss to top-ranked Webster. Freshman Kaden Corlett went 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple and two runs scored. Collin Krmpotich also had two hits and two runs scored while Drake Debeir was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

Grantsburg girls season ends against Phillips

The Grantsburg Pirates girls fastpitch squad fell to a very good Phillips Logger team in the WIAA Div. 4 Regional final on Wednesday, June 16 in Grantsburg. The game was a closely-fought contest, as the Prates were solid on defense, offense and pitching, but the Logger infield and overall defense kept the Pirates at bay.

Rush City Aquatic Center stays busy

There have been a lot of smiles and positive interactions at the Rush City Aquatic Center. During the Rush City Council meeting on June 14, Lee Rood, the Rush City High School athletic director who also oversees activities at the Aquatic Center, said that an average of 350 people, mostly youngsters, have been using the facility per week. He said that there were more than 520 people at the center on June 13.
