FREMONT — A mixed-use housing and retail project that is poised to help breathe new life into downtown Fremont has landed three new merchants, including shops and a restaurant. The new commercial sites are part of the Capitol Square mixed-use development near the corner of Capitol Avenue and State Street.

California has lowest COVID case rate in the nation

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that California now has the lowest coronavirus case rate in the nation . Figures compiled late last week show weekly cases in California have dropped 32% from one month ago, due to the state's success in controlling the highly contagious delta variant.

PSPS Shutoffs for Napa and Lake Counties But Not For Sonoma

Residents in Napa and Lake counties will be impacted by some planned power shutoffs from PG&E starting this morning. Yesterday, the utility company reduced the scope of the shutoff to just 71-hundred customers in small portions of ten California counties. That includes a little over 12-hundred residents in Napa County and over 50 in Lake County. On Saturday, PG&E had originally sent out a warning of planned power shutoffs for 14-thousand customers in 13 California counties because of forecasted weather. That included over 12-hundred customers in Sonoma County but the reduction took Sonoma County out of the shutoff area.
